Have you ever been stuck walking behind somebody and they’re walking only slightly slower than you are? I hate that. It happened to me at U of M all the time when I was walking to class. Now it happens all the time in New York City. The problem is, if you try to pass them, there’s an awkward time when you’re walking right next to them and slowly passing them. It’s worse if there’s a narrow sidewalk (which is basically every sidewalk in Manhattan apparently). If you don’t feel like doing this, your options are either to increase your speed dramatically or slow down and let them stay in front of you.
