I still can’t believe I somehow got both of them, and myself, to actually work on this idea for gas stations that I came up with. The idea was that while you were pumping your gas, you could check weather, and see what stuff was available for purchase inside the gas station store. You could pay for gas and your items and pull up to a window to get them and then drive off. Worst. Idea. Ever.
We probably should have thought a little more about it, and I’m sure we could have come up with something better, but we had fun working on it and other projects. Together we actually made it sound and look pretty decent. Oh, and our team name was “GasTech”. I forget who came up with that. We still use that name today for fun.
GasTech must have done something right, because Dinkar is now getting his MBA from Harvard and Andrew is at law school at Notre Dame (it’s too bad it had to be Notre Dame, but it’s a great law school unfortunately).

No dude, that’s a great idea. Truckers would take full advantage of keeping up with the weather forcast. Our engineering team came up with an idea of putting solar panels on top of Red Cross vehicles and have rechargeable batteries attached so that they’d have harnessable energy for cities that are in an electrical crysis. We thought it was pretty stupid at first too, but not when the engineering department president came up to us and said “we are seriously thinking about going through with this idea. Would you guys be ready to take on the responsibility if given the chance?”

Its a great idea, it basically monetizes a moment where you have one’s full attention. I know we don’t get many gas stations here in NYC, but I’ve seen monitors at gas stations now that give you the local news and weather.

Nah, I came home to Conway, Arkansas for the summer so that I could take Calculus at a local college. Pretty much guaranteed to be easier than UoM Calculus, plus I had already unofficially taken it here once before so I’m familiar with the curriculum. I’m thinking aboutstaying up there next summer to get some more prerequisites out of the way. I love the town.
