Messaging 1.5 launched today!
Me and
Chris
launched messaging 1.5 today with help from
Mansur
. That’s not a typo, Monsur is the man. Here is what we added:
- sent folder
- turning messages off hides the link on your page
- added support for unicode (so bring on the characters
阅览随时更新的新闻 =) ). if that’s a swear word, I apologize, I just typed in chinese in google to get some characters =).
- Made it so that you know whether or not you can message someone before you send a message to them
That’s pretty much it. We’ll probably put out gmail-like threading in a few months along with the filters. So far it looks like there’s very little spam and other inappropriate use of messaging.
Anyways, that’s it for now, let me know what you think!

last nite, my son started moaning. Someone had left him a private message, and when he went to reply, he discovered he couldn’t - they didn’t have it turned on for them.Perhaps if someone doesn’t have private messaging turned on they shouldn’t be able to leave private messages…

Progress! Yes! Progress is good.

Due to the continuous concern with child safety, I believe you should have to be eighteen before posting on xanga, and if you’re under eighteen, you can have a xanga site, but all posts and comments have to be moderated.
